The Mikisew Cree First Nation (Mikisew) has lived on the ancestral lands of the Athabasca Delta and Wood Buffalo National Park in northeastern Alberta since time immemorial. The lives of our members are linked to the land and to a close understanding of traditions, history and a natural way of life. Many of our members live in the hamlet of Fort Chipewyan, and our traditional lands range over a large portion of Athabasca oil sands deposits. Who You Are
Mikisew Cree First Nation is currently seeking a Part-Time Cook for KKECH. The Cook will be responsible for preparing and serving meals in accordance with established guidelines and ensuring a high standard of food quality and safety. This position requires excellent time management, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
This position is based in Fort Chipewyan, AB
Roles & Responsibilities
- Cook (KKECH) program; requires immediate help
- Prepare and cook food items, such as salads, entrees, and desserts.
- Work closely with other kitchen staff and management to ensure the proper preparation of all food items.
- Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and taking out trash.
- Work cooperatively with other kitchen staff members to ensure the proper preparation and serving of all food items.
- Adhere to proper food safety procedures, including cleanliness and sanitation standards.
- Work cooperatively with other kitchen staff members to ensure the proper preparation and serving of all food items.
- Always maintain a positive attitude toward co-workers and management.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of the Woodland Cree culture and traditions is desirable.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Must be able to communicate effectively with management
- Food Handler Certification (preferred).
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment, preparing and cooking a variety of food items such as salads, entrees, and desserts.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards, with the ability to adhere to cleanliness procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with other kitchen staff and management to ensure smooth operations.
- Good time management skills to ensure timely food preparation and service.
- Ability to maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and managing waste.
- Positive attitude and strong communication skills to work well with co-workers and management.
- Flexible hours; including evenings, weekends and holidays; are conditions of employment.
- Willingness to submit to an oath of confidentiality.
- Successful Completion of Criminal Record Check.
