Dual Ticketed Technician

Maintain, repair and overhaul towed and self-propelled light to medium heavy duty vehicles and industrial off-road equipment and commercial transport devices connected to or moved by a power unit.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Interpret work orders and technical manuals 
  • Keep equipment cleaned, lubricated and maintained 
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions 
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems 
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and ensure that the work done meets manufacturers' specifications and legislated regulations 
  • Complete service reports
  • Check medium and light equipment, construction and mining equipment such as, cranes, light duty trucks for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications
  • Change oil, clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and light vehicles
  • Service attachments and working tools such as, winches and side booms
  • Perform repair work on light duty trucks


Maintain and repair vehicles and equipment such as

  • Stationary and mobile internal combustion engines and components 
  • Ground-engaging equipment and components such as rippers, ditchers, backhoes and trenchers and similar equipment 
  • Off-highway motor vehicles (trucks)
  • Towed off-highway vehicles (trailers)

and ther duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

The working environment is a mechanical shop, sometimes outdoors in all types of weather conditions. There is some risk of injury when working with heavy equipment and power tools.



  • Good vision, hearing and sense of smell to diagnose problems

  • Mechanical ability and an interest in all types of machinery and engines, electronics and precision equipment

  • Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) oriented


5 years experience in an automotive service shop



  • Minimum 2 years of industrial journeyman automotive mechanic
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a journeyman heavy duty tech
  • Experience servicing light vehicles and servicing support equipment when required


  • Journeyman Heavy Duty Technician Certification
  • Journeyman Light Duty Technician
  • Red Seal Certification
  • First Aid Certification
